In August 2017, the Swiss School Beijing opened its doors as the German language section of the Western Academy Beijing.

Our School is recognized by the Swiss government and covers the entire range of Swiss compulsory schooling and beyond: from Nursery to Kindergarten, from Primary School (Grade 1 to Grade 5) to Middle School (Grade 6 to Grade 9).

MISSION AND VISION

At the Swiss School in Beijing, children are at the centre of our thinking and actions. In our multilingual, caring and vibrant learning environment, we support them as they grow with curiosity, independence and a strong sense of responsibility. Our students enjoy coming to school – they experience a safe and joyful atmosphere where they feel at ease and learn something new every day.

Our work is rooted in the innovative Swiss education system and flourishes within the inspiring learning environment of our partner school, the Western Academy of Beijing (WAB). Guided by the Swiss pedagogical approach of “head, heart and hands,” we accompany each child individually and help them develop into well-rounded, confident young people.

Our school is a place where people from many cultures meet with openness and respect. Our students experience both China’s rich cultural setting and WAB’s international community, complemented by the traditions we bring from Switzerland.

Our goal is to be the first choice for families in Beijing who seek a multilingual, holistic education in a warm and nurturing environment - a school that unites modern pedagogy, high quality standards and a joyful learning culture while connecting the Swiss, Chinese and international communities.

VALUES

Together with our students, we have shaped our values from head to toe. The result is a clear compass that expresses what matters to our school community and guides our daily actions.

Curiosity and Joy in Learning
A curious mind – full of questions, eager to explore and delighted by new discoveries.

Warmth and Community Spirit
A caring heart – fostering mindfulness, mutual support and a cheerful, uplifting sense of togetherness.

Respect and Appreciation
Open eyes – encouraging friendly interaction, clear awareness in moments of conflict, and a deep sense of safety.

Participation and Responsibility
Shaping hands – actively co-creating school life, contributing to decisions and taking responsibility.

Identity and Belonging
Confident steps – rooted in Switzerland, grounded in China and open to the world, so that stability and meaningful encounters make our school a true home.
